Welcome to The Ever Collection by K Michael

With all the hype of photochromic lenses in the market, everyone wants to know what they are exactly and what they do. The goal behind a photochromic lens is simple yet brilliant! In the past, people with prescription glasses either kept switching between regular glasses and sunglasses when moving outdoors or indoors or skipped the dilemma and didn't wear sunglasses at all.

Thankfully, times are different now. If you wear glasses, there's a much better alternative that you can go for - photochromic lenses! Let's read on to find out exactly what these are, what they do, and how they can be your ultimate eye protectors!

What Are Photochromic Lenses?

Photochromic lenses have earned several names over the past few years. Transition lenses, adaptive lenses, variable-tint lenses, and auto-tint lenses are all names of the same variety: the photochromic lens.

When indoors, photochromic lenses have the same purposes as your regular glasses, the ones you wear for vision acuity. When you move outdoors, these "light intelligent" lenses become darker and start functioning as sunglasses. When you move back indoors, the lens transitions back to clear within minutes. They'll offer ideal visual acuity both indoors and outdoors.

How Do They Work?

These carbon-based lenses carry certain molecules that are only activated by the sun’s UV rays. As these molecules absorb the ultraviolet radiation, they change shape and make the lens appear darker.

It takes about half a minute for the molecules to respond to the bright sunlight and darken the lens tint, while you'll have to wait about 3 to 5 minutes for it to return to its default state once you move indoors.

Since UV rays aren’t blocked by clouds, you’ll also find your photochromic glasses turning dark on a cloudy day.

Why Would You Want To Wear Them?

Photochromic lenses offer bundles of benefits when compared to regular prescription glasses. Let's take a look at some most important ones:

  • The ultimate purpose of photochromic sunglasses is convenience. It keeps you from the hassle of carrying two pairs and switching between them every time you move in and out of the house.
  • They offer 100% protection for your eyes against UVA and UVB.
  • It’s perfect for children who wear glasses for vision correction. Together with upgrading their vision, it also helps protect their young eyes against sun damage.
  • Photochromic lenses adjust automatically and intelligently to the light conditions. The brighter it gets, the darker your shades get. This means, you’ll always enjoy the optimal level of tint, depending on the sun’s intensity.

If you're looking for the best shades to protect your eyes, Ever Collection is the place to be. Together with a wide range to choose from, each of our products are fitted with the premium-quality lenses for durability and optimal protection from the sun and other bright sources.
